A fine defensive effort and 16 total goals topped off a fantastic weekend of soccer for EUSA Syracuse U10 boys. The team went undefeated with a 4-0-1 record and held every team scoreless over 5 games.

The first game vs. GBSA Select Red was a 0-0 draw. The second game ended in a 5-0 shut out over United FC White, followed by a 6-0 result over The Crushers.

The semi-final game vs. GBSA Select Black was an exciting 1-0 result highlighted by a penalty kick save by goalkeeper Drew “The Drew-a-nator” Taylor with less than 10 seconds left to preserve the 1-0 win.

The boys capped off their tournament win with a 4-0 victory in a rematch with the GBSA Select Red team.

Coach Robie Robillard states the win was a total team effort, starting with fine defensive play led by Jared Kantak, Phillip Bogan, and team captain Gavin O’Connor. In addition, great wide play created plenty of chances for the offense with those efforts led by Logan Ukleya, Joey Bertone, and Connor Ball. In the midfield, Jeorgio Kocevski and Jake Pawlika were key in gaining and maintaining possession with their precision ball movement.

The team put consistent pressure on the back line throughout the day which resulted in six goals scored by Jeorgio Kocevski, five by Jake Pawlika, two each by Gavin O’Connor and Jared DiFrancesco, and one by Brody Scorzelli. Assists are credited to all goal scorers in addition to Brennan Walsh, Joey Bertone, and Logan Ukleya.
