Andrew Coughlin Named U.S. Development Academy's U15/16 Player of the Week

Andrew Coughlin helped his U16 Empire USA team to a 2-0 victory against Oakwood SC this past weekend. In addition to a number of fine saves, his key stops on a breakaway and penalty kick kept the scoreline intact and helped Empire United to the win.

With a strong early start, the Empire U16s are currently 2-0-0 in their division and 3-1-2 overall. Divisional opponents Seacoast United and BW Gottschee NYC will travel to Empire United for the remainder of the team’s February home stand.

Andrew lives in Baldwinsville, NY, where he is a junior at at CW Baker High School.  He has been a member of the Empire United's US Development Academy program since September.  He feels the Academy offers a great opportunity to play with and against top level players in addition to being exposed to various college coaches.

Prior to his involvement with Empire United's US Development Academy program, Andrew played 4 years of ODP and was the starting goalkeeper in his age group for all 4 years.  He was selected to represent Region I on an international team in 2008 and feels that ODP was a great stepping stone to the Academy.

Andrew would like to continue playing soccer in college and hopes to major in Buisness Management and Marketing.
